Gloswam
Family- Fungi
Climate - Temperate
Intro
A glowing, edible mushroom and part of the fungi family. They come in a variety of colors, each have unique tastes.
Discovery
Gloswams were first described by explorer Cunnian. He noted their unique colors, tastes, and the fact they glow long after picked. He brought them back to his tribe, Jugem, who used them at first primarily in place of candles as a source of light. They initially were worried because they had been poisoned by other fungi in the past. When some alchemists finally tested them out they discovered the wide breadth of tastes, and thus have become a big part of Witch culinary arts.
Habitat
Gloswams grow during Benripe and Pisle revolution in various climates where humidity level provides. Unlike the majority of mushrooms, gloswams can survive in sunlight. In fact, sunlight is needed to achieve their signature bright glow and makes the flavor profile stronger.
Culinary
Gloswams have become a key ingredient in many Witch dishes. Notably they are used in glow stew and forest delight. They are also common to serve steamed and in stir fried dishes.
An expensive domesticated variety is the pale gloswam, which is white and imparts a mild nutty and fruity flavor in dishes. In addition, it also causes recipes with lots of broth to glow much more bright then normal gloswams.
