Forwan Beans
Forwan Beans
Family- Fungi
Climate - Temperate, Cold
Intro
Forwan beans are the standard everyday bean in Witch culture. Although not treated as such by the populous, they are actually mushrooms.
Cultivation
Forwan beans grow in low, slow moving river beds such as creeks and winterbournes. They most commonly grow among rocks and pebbles which they match in look, making them difficult to discern and thus harvest. Experiments were run to try and grow them without gravel, however noted among the results was this quote: “This harvest would make a single bowl of soup at best.”
Discovery & Culinary Uses
First discovered by explorer Cunnian while washing his face in a river, he began using them in his stews while on the trail due to the abundance. When bringing them back to his town, word quickly spread about their unique taste and texture. Not to mention the fact they still grow in the cold seasons due to being mushrooms.
Chefs everywhere began using them in unique ways in cooking, almost completely eclipsing actual beans for a good number of seasons.
